ARDEX were pleased to utilise their experience within the education sector by providing the ideal refurbishment solution for Peterborough Regional College.  Each year the College welcomes around 3,500 full time and 12,000 part time students through its gates, encompassing the widest range of courses in the Greater Peterborough area.

ARDEX teamed up with one of East Anglia’s most established specialist flooring contractors, Superior Finish Contracts of St Ives, Cambridgeshire, to provide a 2500m² fast track refurbishment of the main reception, corridors and refectory. It was essential that the college remained in operation throughout the refurbishment, so it was vital to deliver efficient weekend operating procedures, which would allow the project to be completed as quickly as possible,

As part of their high level of customer support, ARDEX completed moisture readings of the subfloors, which revealed an inherent level of dampness meaning a surface damp proof membrane was required.  ARDEX DPM 1 C was specified to guarantee the early laying of the subsequent floorcovering, and to protect the installation from residual construction moisture and ground bearing moisture.

ARDEX DPM 1 C is easy to apply, fast curing and can accommodate Hygrometer readings up to 98% RH.

ARDEX P 82 Primer was then applied to the cured ARDEX DPM 1 C, prior to the application of ARDEX K 15.  This advanced smoothing compound incorporates ARDEX’s unique ‘RAPIDRY FORMULA’ technology, which enables the subfloor to be rapidly levelled, allowing floorcoverings to be laid the next day, regardless of thickness.
