Iconic building benefits from the unlimited design opportunities of PANDOMO

St George’s Court

Home of the MOD and other government departments, the architect required a unique design that could not be achieved with a standard tile

St George’s Court

Located in Central London at the heart of New Oxford Street, and within walking distance of Covent Garden and the West End, St George’s Court is an iconic London building. Used for both residential and commercial purposes, the building, finished in the 1940s, has an impressive history and was the London Head Quarters of the Ministry of Defence.

Today, the building hosts Grade A office space and is co-used by the Ministry of Defence and other government departments.

The entire building, including the main reception and staircase, as well as the upstairs washrooms, recently underwent a full refurbishment to create an updated and consistent new look.

BGY architects specified PANDOMO by ARDEX, and a range of supporting ARDEX flooring products, to create a professional and open design, perfect for a contemporary office space.

Connor McCann, Sales Director at DMC Contracts Ltd, and the contractor chosen for the job commented: “ARDEX put the architects behind this project, Buckley Gray Yeoman Architects (BGY), in touch with us because we are one of only a few contractors with the expertise and skills to apply PANDOMO Terrazzo.

Thanks to the light pantone of TerrazzoPlus, we had unlimited design opportunities, and were able to create a chevron shape which provided a welcoming and open design which could not have been achieved with a standard tile. Our clients were delighted with the end result, both aesthetically and in terms of performance.”

The PANDOMO range of products creates a decorative, seamless and very hard wearing surface for floors, walls and ceilings.
