JD Sports Braehead Glasgow

The Braehead Shopping Centre, Glasgow, was the location of the first JD Sports branch to feature the new design and layout for the nationwide retailer.  The appointed design team wanted a fast track system to create a finished polished concrete look for both the floor and wall, and specified PanDOMO by ARDEX, which allowed them to colour match both the floor and wall surfaces in the flagship store.

Resarf Flooring contractors, a PanDOMO applicator partner, were appointed to prepare the floor and apply the unique finish of PanDOMO Loft and Wall products.  The redesign began with the preparation of 120 square metres of floor.  The existing floor had many layers of poor quality latex and smoothing compound on top of old terrazzo tiles with some large cracks.  The team from Resarf Flooring initially removed all the old smoothing compounds and adhesive residues back to the original cracked terrazzo tiles.

ARDEX EP 2000 Multipurpose Epoxy Resin filled the cracks within the terrazzo tiled floor, and primed the area, creating a solid, high strength surface to work on.  The next stage was to apply ARDEX K 80 Rapid Drying Smoothing Compound to create a smooth, flat wearing surface ready to receive PanDOMO Loft.  PanDOMO products create a decorative, seamless and very hard wearing surface even in thinner layers, and here PanDOMO Loft in a grey and olive earth tone were applied at 2mm.  Once the second coat had been applied the floor was sanded, polished and sealed the next day to create the final impervious finish.  The new wall area totalled 98 square metres, and where required, all joints were taped, sealed and primed using ARDEX P 51 Multipurpose Primer.  The final stage of the project was to apply PanDOMO Wall, again, at only 2mm thick to create the desired effect.

ARDEX offered a complete system solution, from the subfloor preparation to the final decorative finish, and PanDOMO Loft and Wall made a colour matched, seamless wall and floor finish possible.
