ARDEX assist in an extensive refurbishment to the main foyer and reception area

ARDEX specified a fast track levelling, tiling and grouting solution to the multi-purpose facility

KCOM Stadium

The KCOM Stadium is a multi-purpose facility in the city of Kingston upon Hull, and was completed in 2002 following a £44 million build.  The stadium is home to both Hull City Football Club and Hull Rugby League Club, and in spring 2016 the 170m² main foyer and reception area underwent an extensive refurbishment.

The condition of the floor required the existing ceramic tiles to be removed prior to levelling with ARDITEX NA, which offered a fast track solution to the project by allowing subsequent tiling to commence after just three hours.

The new 400 x 600mm ceramic tiles where then fixed with ARDEX MICROTEC X 78 S Tile Adhesive.  The rapid drying properties of this product meant the contractor, Tony Saxby of TST Installations, was able to walk on and grout the tiles after just 90 minutes, and the semi-pourable consistency facilitated solid bed fixing.

ARDEX FLEX-FL Rapid Setting and Hardening Flexible Tile Grout in Silver Shimmer provided the perfect finish to the project, and Kevin Gale, ARDEX Area Sales Manager, commented “The system specified for this project was ideal for the quick turnaround that was needed.  If the tiles on the original floor had been sound and well adhered, ARDITEX NA could have gone directly over them without priming; but in this situation, the tiles had to be removed and ARDITEX NA was used to pre-smooth the floor prior to tiling.”
